Frequently asked questions

What forms of payments do you accept?

Workplace Safety Specialists accepts MasterCard, VISA, Discover and American Express and Purchase Orders. Please contact Sales Account Executive Cara Garry at carag@workplacesafetyspecialists.com for pricing and payment information.

How long is forklift certification good for?

Forklift certification is generally good for three years. The exception to this is that an employee must be retrained under some specific circumstances outlined in regulation 29 CFR 1910.178(l)(4). This includes when an operator has been observed operating the forklift in an unsafe manner, workplace changes, was involved in an accident, or has been assigned a different type of truck.

How long is a training class?

While some courses have regulatory-directed time frames for the length of training, many courses are left to the employer to determine appropriate course lengths. OSHA directs the requirements for what must be trained or communicated to employees, but does not direct the amount of time to effectively train employees. Generally, Awareness level is 2 hours; Refreshers are 2-4 hours; and employees that are newly exposed to complex topics such as confined space entry or trench & excavation usually receive 8 hours. Some courses, such as 40-Hour HAZWOPER and Initial Backhoe require more time.

How soon can I have a training class scheduled?

Workplace Safety Specialists works with you and often can schedule training within days.. If travel is required, we keep costs down by coordinating with the best airfare.

Is CPR and First Aid Training required in the workplace?

The requirement can vary depending on industry and activities in the workplace. OSHA states that "In the absence of an infirmary, clinic, or hospital in near proximity to the workplace which is used for the treatment of all injured employees, a person or persons shall be adequately trained to render first aid. Adequate first aid supplies shall be readily available."

What materials do students receive during training?

Courses include a student manual and supplemental reference material as applicable, ie. Temporary Traffic Control - MUTCD, Hands-On classes - Skills Assessment Forms, NIOSH, ERG and others. Two-hour awareness courses include hand-out material.

When do I get my course certificate and wallet card?

Course completion certificates and wallet cards are sent within seven days of receipt of payment. If there is a regulatory or company requirement for proof or documentation of training prior to receipt of the course completion certificates, the training roster can be made available.

Where does training take place?

Training is provided at the convenience of your facility which reduces the length of time employees are away from their job. In addition it allows for us to train your employees on the equipment being used for the job. Proper use, inspections and common mistakes are shown when doing the hands-on field exercises.

Is there a minimum number of students needed to hold a class?

No our classes are typically scheduled for up to 10 or 20 employees and includes all classroom materials. If you just have a couple of employees who need training we can usually add them into already scheduled course.

How have you addressed issues with COVID-19?

Workplace Safety Specialists complies with your COVID-19 procedures. Classrooms need to allow for physical distancing and we leave it up to the client if both the students and instructor need to wear a face covering. Students can either pick up their own materials or can access them online. We also allow extra time for breaks to wash hands and ask that if you are sick to not attend class.

Do you offer instructor-led training via Zoom?

Yes we offer almost all of our classes via Zoom with a live instructor. Your facility does not need a Zoom account. A link is sent to employees to live stream through a TV monitor, laptop, tablet or cell phone. There is no additional fee for this service. This option allows for: Interaction between the instructor and students from several locations at the same time Hands-on demonstrations (for most classes) by the instructor as well as by the employees with their equipment Meets guidelines established by ADEQ’s Operator Certification Program for PDH’s Student manuals are emailed or hard copies mailed prior to class Testing is performed using a link that is emailed to each student. Results are immediate and correct answers are provided
